Potter Otter

Moor Otters were a series of 100 unique pieces of art that were displayed in public accessible areas in and around the Dartmoor National Park and gateway towns in 2017.

My design ’Potter Otter’ was a play on words, mixing the very popular fictional young wizard, Harry Potter, with the playful and adorable Dartmoor mammal. The design shows ‘Potter Otter’, dressed in full Hogwarts School of Wizardry uniform, together with Hedwig, the young wizard’s pet Snowy owl, poised on a pile of spell books. Potter Otter is shown holding his all-important wand and a ‘Golden Snitch’ is also depicted. A spell book, lies open to suggest that Potter Otter is all set to carry out magic on Dartmoor!

Here is a timelapse video of me creating my sculpture, ‘Potter Otter’ for the Moor Otter Trail. He took 30 hours to paint!
